Helping students, teachers and parents understand the purpose and pleasure of reading has been my lifetime goal as an educator..Throughout my career I have worked to extend literacy with interactive read alouds, encourage students to make original books, practice reading daily and to build communication with engaging conversations about favorite books. With over 40 years of experience in early childhood literacy, a Masters degree in reading from San Jose State University and a Lifetime Credential as a Reading Specialist I have developed numerous literacy programs including Family Reading Nights, Cross Age Tutoring and "Reading at Home". In 2004 I joined the Bring Me A Book Foundation in Mountain View, California to develop, teach and train facilitators in BMAB's award winning You Are Your Child"s First Teacher program designed to help parents understand the importance of daily read alouds. In 2006 I began working with BMAB Hong Kong and have presented workshops for parents and teachers each year. Currently I am connected with the Chen Yet Sen Family Foundation and I teach classes at various sites in mainland China.
